Using plugins

Plugins run inside a sandboxed iframe in the Carbon shell. They can use the window.carbon API (storage, config, UI actions, events), not the Roblox game process.

  • List installed plugins from plugins/<id>/.
  • Toggle enable/disable per plugin.
  • Open plugin settings when the manifest defines them.

Example plugins in the repository: project/resources/plugins/carbon/com.carbon.demo.

  1. Get a folder with plugin.yaml and the compiled entry (usually dist/logic.js).
  2. Place it under plugins/<plugin-id>/ or use the in-app install action when available.
  3. Enable the plugin and reload if prompted.

Plugins never ship inside Roblox mods, keep launcher extensions separate from mods/.

Full plugin authoring docs are still expanding. Until then:

  • Read the demo plugin source in the repo.
  • Use mods for client asset changes.
  • Watch Plugins for the formal spec page.
